History

My Story

Number 1 selling Irish artist. Double platinum awarded albums. Voted best Irish group 1989 by national music awards IRMA.

Brendan was born in the beautiful seaside town of Wexford in the southeast of Ireland. He comes from a family full of music, and song, with Mother Mary Ross, a noted singer of light opera, and his uncle George Ross, all Ireland champion button accordion player in 1956.

He learned to play Uilleann Pipes, the iconic instrument of Ireland, and as a teenager, he formed a local traditional Irish music band called “Sonas” , which represented Ireland at Festival Interceltique de Lorient in 1979 & 1980.

Brendan was Wexford County tin whistle champion in 1976.

Brendan was lead singer with rock band, Cry Before Dawn, who was voted best Irish Band at National music awards 1989 IRMA. The band went double platinum for sales of their two studio albums. The band reformed 2011, and had sellout shows in Dublin’s Vicar Street, and Wexfords Opera House. They are still active to this day, and plan a new album due 2015.

In 1996 Brendan with cowriter Paul Bell also from Wexford Town, wrote a number 1 selling EP, called the Hurling Songs. These songs are now part of Wexford hurling folklore, and are sung at various occasions including when Wexford Hurling team play.

Brendan Has also played on an album for Angeli Branuardi in 1998. Ill ditto el la Luna. He has also played opening act for Elton John, Mike and the mechanics, David Essex, and many more.

Now living in Winterthur Switzerland, Brendan continues to play Solo and with top Swiss artists. He writes Lyrics for various bands,including 6 songs for Voice of Switzerland singer, Shem Thomas, who reached Number 2 in the Swiss album charts. Brendan work with top producer Pele Loriano and for the famous Zurich production studio, “The Hit Mill” in Zurich.

He also played with famous Dublin folk band “The Wild Colonial boys” featuring Gerry Doyle on fiddle. They played for many years in Dublin’s famous Jonnie Fox`s pub, the hight pub in Ireland, and a famous seafood restaurant.

In 2016 Brendan was special guest for Eluveitie, top international Swiss act, for 12 shows at DAS Zelt.

He has played most of the top venues in Switzerland, including AVO session Basel, and is available for all types of events, and especially Irish themed events, Whiskey Events, Wedding Ceramonys, Apero, and Firma events.
